As the start of the new season nears, activity across Europe’s top five leagues is intensifying. Clubs have been active in the market, with several high-profile player transfers completed over the past week.
Here's a roundup of the latest transfers.
EVAN FERGUSON JOINS ROMA ON LOAN
Brighton’s Irish striker Evan Ferguson has joined Italian side Roma on a season-long loan.
The Serie A club have an option to buy the 20-year-old for around 34.7 million pounds ($46.9 million) at the end of the loan.
The Republic of Ireland international has spent the second half of last season on loan at West Ham.
Ferguson has made 80 appearances for the Seagulls and scored 17 goals.
“Evan had a challenging period across the past season and a half, and it has been one disrupted by niggling injury issues, which hasn’t allowed him a run of games,” Brighton boss Fabian Hürzeler was quoted as saying by Sky Sports.
ESTUPINAN SET TO COMPLETE AC MILAN MOVE
Italian giant AC Milan are to finalise the deal for Ecuador international Pervis Estupinan as the left-back is due to fly to Italy, Sky Sports reports.
The deal between the Serie A club and Brighton is understood to be nearly 17.5 million pounds ($23.7 million).
The 27-year-old defender has made 104 appearances for the Seagulls and scored 5 times.
Estupinan was absent from Brighton's 2-0 friendly victory over Las Palmas on Monday, as they concluded their pre-season training camp in southern Spain.
PROMOTED LEEDS SIGN MIDFIELDER STACH AND LONGSTAFF
The newly promoted club, Leeds United, have signed German midfielder Anton Stach from TSG Hoffenheim on a four-year contract, the Premier League club said on Tuesday, according to Reuters.
British media reported that the transfer fee was around 17.4 million pounds ($23.5 million).
The 26-year-old, who has two international caps, joined Hoffenheim in 2023, scoring four goals and registering six assists in 71 appearances.
Daniel Farke's side have also secured the services of Newcastle midfielder Sean Longstaff for 12 million ($16.2 million) pounds plus potential add-ons, BBC Sport reports.
The 27-year-old has signed a four-year contract ending his 18-year association with Newcastle.
The English midfielder has made 214 senior appearances for the Magpies and scored on 16 occasions.
PERRONE SEALS PERMANENT COMO MOVE
The 22-year-old Manchester City midfielder, Maximo Perrone, has been sold to Serie A side Como in a deal worth up to 13 million pounds ($17.6 million), according to BBC Sports.
The Argentine, who joined City from Velez Sarsfield in January 2023, played just twice for the senior team.
Perrone was loaned to Las Palmas in La Liga for the 2023-24 season and then to Como for the 2024-25 season, where he made 26 appearances, contributing to their 10th-place finish in Serie A under manager Cesc Fabregas.
The agreement reportedly includes a 30% sell-on clause and a buy-back option for City.
SERIE A TOP SCORER JOINS SAUDI SIDE AL-QADSIAH
Mateo Retegui, last season's leading scorer in Italy's Serie A, has moved from Atalanta to Saudi Pro League side Al-Qadsiah, BBC Sports reports.
The Saudi side have paid over 56 million pounds ($75.9 million) for the 26-year-old striker, who has penned a four-year deal.
The Italian forward, who was born in Argentina, joined Atalanta from Genoa last summer and netted 25 goals in 36 league matches, helping them secure third place.
