Erling Haaland has shown no change in demeanour since Manchester City were found guilty of serious breaches of Premier League financial rules, according to Norway teammate Kristoffer Ajer.

The City striker is with Norway ahead of their Nations League match against Wales in Cardiff on Thursday, his first game since the independent commission’s findings were announced.

The Brentford defender said Haaland had remained his usual energetic self despite the uncertainty surrounding his club.

“Ever since I met him, he brings lot of energy and joy to the group,” Ajer said when asked about Haaland’s mood in the Norway camp.

“That’s the biggest compliment I always give, he hasn’t changed a bit from the moment I met him, even though he’s the biggest star on the planet right now.”

The City case had barely been discussed within the Norway squad, according to Ajer.

“I have to admit that honestly, I’ve read very little into it. We don’t talk about it much here.

“But we’re just footballers, we don’t know all the ins and outs and all the stuff that’s being talked about in the media.”

Haaland has not publicly commented on the verdict.

He scored in Norway’s 2-1 defeat by Portugal on Sunday after earlier striking twice against Denmark, taking his record as the Nations League’s all-time leading scorer to 22 goals.

The Premier League announced on Tuesday that an independent commission had found City guilty of all charges related to serious financial breaches between 2009 and 2018.

The league said City used “sham contracts” to artificially inflate revenue and reduce costs, producing a £900 million variation in the club’s accounts over the nine-year period.

City say they remain innocent and will appeal the findings. The deadline for an appeal is Oct 2, while any sanction will be considered separately by the independent commission.
