Mesut Özil, a former Germany midfielder and World Cup winner, has visited Dhaka University for the opening of a medical centre.

The campus was abuzz with excitement as students gathered to catch a glimpse of the global sports star on Wednesday, while university authorities presented him with a commemorative souvenir.

He was the guest of honour at the inauguration of the Shaheed Buddhijibi Mortuza Medical Centre in the afternoon. The medical centre was upgraded after renovations.

Those present included Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Niaz Ahmed Khan, Turkish Ambassador to Bangladesh Ramis Sen, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s son Bilal Erdoğan, TIKA President Abdullah Eren, senior university deans and officials, and leaders of DUCSU and Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal.
