Dhaka, Feb 21 (bdnews24.com) – Noor-e-Alam Ziku, one of the key organisers of Bangladesh's Liberation War and leader of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD), died in Dhaka early on Sunday.
Former JSD president ASM Abdur Rob told bdnews24.com that Ziku, who was suffering from various ailments, including heart diseases and diabetes, had breathed his last at 5:55 am at the Suhrawardi Hospital at the age of 72.
A former member of parliament and JSD president, he was the party's chief advisor at the time of his death.
Rob said the first Janaza, or funeral prayer, for Ziku would be held after Zohr prayers at Ahsan Manjil in old Dhaka.
His body would be kept at the party's Gulistan office for general people to show respect from 11am to 12pm on Monday.
Two more Janazas would be held, one at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque and another at parliament, before he is buried on Monday.
JSD leaders and activists rushed to Ziku's old Dhaka residence after hearing the news of his demise.
