BNP Standing Committee member and Prime Minister's Political Advisor Mirza Abbas will be flown to Singapore via air ambulance on Sunday for advanced medical treatment, Social Welfare Minister AZM Zahid Hossain has said.
The BNP leader, who is currently under close observation after a brain surgery at Evercare Hospital, will be admitted to the Neuroscience Department of Singapore General Hospital.
Zahid visited Abbas at the hospital on Saturday night.
"Following the advice of the medical board, Mirza Abbas will be taken to Singapore tomorrow,” he said.
“An air ambulance is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka from Singapore at 9am. If everything goes as planned, he is expected to fly by 11:30am," the minister added.
The Dhaka-8 MP will be accompanied by his wife Afroza Abbas, son Yasir Abbas, and a physician from Evercare Hospital.
The minister noted that he spoke with the medical board and reviewed the latest reports.
"His CT scan report is positive," Zahid said.
Mirza Abbas was rushed to Evercare Hospital on Wednesday after losing consciousness during Iftar.
On Friday, he underwent a four-hour brain surgery.
