The National Citizen Party (NCP), which had earlier boycotted the signing ceremony citing a lack of a clear legal basis for implementing the July Charter, has finally signed the document.

Convenor Nahid Islam and Member Secretary Akhter Hossen signed the Charter on Monday in the presence of the interim head Muhammad Yunus at the State Guest House Jamuna, according to a media statement from the Chief Advisor’s Office (CAO).

After the signing, Yunus thanked the party.

“The nation believed that the NCP would sign the Charter. Today that belief has been fulfilled and the July National Charter has reached completion,” he said.

He added that the document must guide efforts to build a humane Bangladesh and called for constant vigilance to ensure its implementation.
