Veteran actor Masud Ali Khan, known for his roles in nearly five hundred dramas spanning over five decades, has passed away.

He died at his residence in Dhaka’s Green Road on Thursday around 4:20pm.

He was 95.

His health had been deteriorating due to prolonged physical complications, and he was under home care, his nephew’s wife Sharmina Ahmed told bdnews24.com.

Born on Oct 6, 1929, in Manikganj, Masud began his journey in theatre during the 1950s with Drama Circle and made his television debut with Bhai Bhai Shobai following the establishment of the Dhaka television centre.

Beyond acting, Masud served in the government sector, retiring as a secretary of Bangladesh Tourism Corporation in 1988.

Known for his extensive work in both dramas and films, he was awarded the Ekushey Padak in 2023.

Due to age-related ailments, Masud had stepped away from acting in recent years.

Shilpakala Academy Director General Syed Jamil Ahmed visited him on Sept 15 to check on his health.

Arrangements for his burial have not yet been finalised, Sharmina told bdnews24.com, with details to be shared once decided.
