The Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) has released footage it says shows the first armed operation by its newly formed women’s unit, the Karima Armed Assault Division (KAAD), against a Pakistani military convoy in Balochistan.
The separatist group claimed nine Pakistani military personnel were killed in attacks in the province, NDTV reports.
The footage shows first-person views of an operation in Turbat on Sept 22, with KAAD fighters carrying rifles opening fire on a three-vehicle Quick Response Force convoy, including an armoured vehicle, on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Highway.
A woman commander is seen briefing the fighters before the operation. The footage then shows the fighters firing on the convoy from close range.
BLF spokesperson Major Gwahram Baloch said several Pakistani military vehicles were severely damaged in the attack, according to the report.
He said the group's Qurban unit supported the operation by the women's unit and fought Pakistani forces that attempted to encircle the attackers, helping them withdraw.
Qurban unit fighter Chakar Murad, alias Dileep Jan, was killed in the attack, he said.
Another clip shows KAAD members conducting snap checks on vehicles in the Mangchar area of Kalat.
In a separate incident, the Baloch Republican Army (BRA) attacked a site operated by Mari Energies Limited in the Beh Loti area of Balochistan's Dera Bugti with rockets and heavy weapons.
BRA spokesperson Sarbaz Baloch said three employees of the company were killed and several others injured.
He said Pakistani forces later fought members of what the group described as a local state-backed armed group following the attack on the Mari Energies site.
According to the statement, nine Pakistani military personnel and three members of the armed group were killed. The BRA also said six of its fighters were killed, according to The Balochistan Post.
The Baloch Republican Guards (BRG) said its fighters seized Haji Shehr and used explosives to destroy a local police station.
The group also said BRA fighters entered Eri Shehr, took control of government facilities and withdrew after completing the operation.
The claims could not be independently verified.
The incidents come amid an escalation in attacks by Baloch militant groups targeting Pakistan's security forces and state infrastructure.
KAAD is named after Karima Baloch, a Baloch pro-independence activist and the first woman chairperson of the Baloch Students Organisation-Azad. She was found dead in Canada’s Toronto in 2020.
