Two Indian soldiers have been killed in a “gunfight with terrorists” in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam.
Two others were injured in the overnight gunbattle during an anti-terror operation, the Indian Army said on Saturday.
Since the crackdown began in the region on Aug 1, one terrorist has been killed so far while 10 soldiers have been wounded, according to Indian broadcast NDTV.
Officials said that the operation was taking longer to conclude because the area is mountainous and forested.
Quoting multiple police sources, NDTV reports that Indian security forces launched the operation based on intel that five militants, including at least three foreigners, were hiding in the area.
Drones and helicopters are also being used to track down the hiding militants.
Security forces believe these militants are highly skilled in jungle warfare.
The names of the militants or the group they belong to have not yet been confirmed.
