Bangladesh has recorded two more dengue deaths in a 24-hour count, both in the Dhaka city corporations, alongside 955 hospitalisations across the country.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the latest deaths bring the total fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease this year to 211.
September has recorded 115 deaths in its first 25 days, making it the deadliest month of the year so far.
The health directorate said on Friday that 76 patients were admitted to hospitals in Dhaka North and 113 in Dhaka South in the 24 hours to 8am.
Outside the two city corporations, 241 were admitted elsewhere in the division.
The figures for other divisions were 44 in Barishal, 246 in Chattogram, 130 in Khulna, 37 in Mymensingh, 44 in Rangpur, and four in Sylhet.
Another 953 patients were discharged in the same 24-hour period.
This year, 70,104 dengue patients have been hospitalised and 64,827 discharged.
The health directorate has tracked dengue hospitalisations and deaths since 2000.
In 2023, 321,179 patients were hospitalised and 1,705 died -- the highest figures recorded. Last year, more than 400 died and about 102,000 were diagnosed.
