Bangladesh has reported five more suspected measles deaths in a 24-hour count.
The Directorate General of Health Services on Tuesday said 1,255 people were hospitalised with suspected infection and 84 patients tested positive for the disease during the same period.
The latest fatalities bring the total number of deaths from suspected measles symptoms this year to 1,003, while 101 deaths have been confirmed as measles.
Altogether, the death toll linked to the outbreak has reached 1,104.
According to a DGHS bulletin released, three of the latest deaths occurred in the Dhaka Division, with one each recorded in Sylhet and Chattogram divisions in the 24 hours to 8am on Monday.
Dhaka Division has suffered the highest fatality rate from suspected measles symptoms, accounting for 451 deaths.
Sylhet Division recorded the second-highest toll with 177 deaths, followed by Rajshahi with 93, Mymensingh with 79, Chattogram with 84, Barishal with 60, Khulna with 44, and Rangpur with 15.
The bulletin noted that 1,255 people sought hospital care for measles symptoms during the period, with 1,186 admitted.
Among the newly admitted patients, Dhaka Division recorded the highest number with 386 admissions, followed by Chattogram with 261, Sylhet with 201, Barishal with 107, Khulna with 89, Mymensingh with 86, Rajshahi with 29, and Rangpur with 27.
The health directorate has been compiling figures on measles infections, suspected cases, and related fatalities since Mar 15.
Hospital admissions have reached 168,655, while 161,798 patients have been discharged.
Suspected measles cases total 190,510, including 21,392 confirmed cases.
