Bangladesh has recorded four more suspected measles deaths, with another 170 infections confirmed in a day.

The latest fatalities pushed the suspected death toll to 725.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said in its daily bulletin on Sunday that the latest figures covered the 24 hours to 8am Saturday, maintaining data collection that began on Mar 15.

Nationwide, confirmed measles deaths stand at 95 alongside 725 fatalities among patients displaying symptoms.

Dhaka Division has suffered the heaviest blow with 317 symptom-related deaths, followed by Sylhet with 106, Rajshahi with 90, Mymensingh with 69, Chattogram with 57, Barishal with 44, Khulna with 32, and Rangpur with 10.

The DGHS said 990 people with measles symptoms sought treatment at hospitals across the country over the same period, of whom 941 were admitted.

Hospital admissions included 322 in Dhaka Division, 220 in Chattogram, 155 in Barishal, 95 in Sylhet, 55 in Mymensingh, 41 in Khulna, 32 in Rajshahi and 21 in Rangpur.

The latest figures bring total hospital admissions for suspected measles to 106,239, with 102,467 patients discharged following treatment.

Overall suspected measles cases across the country have risen to 123,753, with 15,442 confirmed through laboratory testing.
