She passed away at Dhaka’s United Hospital on Sunday afternoon, the hospital’s customer services official Arif Rahman told bdnews24.com.

Her first namaz-e-janaza will be held at Gulshan Azad Mosque after Isha prayers.

Diti's body will then be taken to Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) on Monday morning, where her second namaz-e-janaza will be held.

She will then be taken to her village home at Sonargoan on Monday noon, said Bangladesh Film Directors' Association secretary general Mushfiqur Rahman Gulzar.

After another namaz-e-janaza, she will be buried next to her mother’s grave.

The famed actress was diagnosed with brain tumour at India’s Madras Institute of Orthopaedics and Traumatology. She underwent a successful surgery after being admitted there on July 25, 2015.

Diti, who continued to be ill after her operation, was being treated with chemotherapy. She was admitted at United Hospital after her return to Dhaka.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had handed over a cheque for Tk 1 million to her children after they returned from Delhi.
