Girls are once again leading boys in terms of the pass rate and GPA-5 count in their Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations.
This year, the pass rate for girls was 71.03 percent, compared to 65.88 percent for boys.
Girls are also significantly ahead in achieving GPA-5s.
Of the 139,032 who achieved the prestigious score, there were 65,416 boys and 73,616 girls.
This means 8,200 more girls achieved a GPA-5.
Last year, the pass rate for the public exams was 83.04 percent, with 182,129 scoring a GPA-5.
Girls have been leading boys in terms of the pass rate for the past eight years. In 2024, the pass rate for girls was 84.47 percent, while the rate for boys was 81.57 percent.
Last year, 182,129 students scored a GPA-5, of which 83,253 were boys and 98,776 were girls.
This year, 1,904,086 students from 30,088 educational institutions took part in the public exams. Of them, 1,303,426 passed.
The average pass rate was 68.45 percent for the 11 education boards, with 139,032 achieving a GPA-5.
The results were released at 2pm on Thursday.
Unlike other years, there was no ceremony during which summaries and statistics of the exams were handed over to the head of government before the results were published.
At a press conference organised by the Dhaka Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, Prof Khondker Ehsanul Kabir, the president of the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee of the education boards and the chairman of the Dhaka SHED, presented the data on the exams.
Students can get the results through SMS, from their educational institutions, on the education board's website and on mobile phones.
This year's SSC and equivalent exams were held nationwide from Apr 10. The written exams ended on May 13 and were followed by practical exams from May 15-22.
Like last year, the exams were held based on the complete syllabus, with full marks and standard duration for each subject.
