The Dhaka Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board has blacklisted 71 examiners and chief examiners for five years over negligence in evaluating answer scripts of this year’s SSC exams.

The decision bars them from serving as examiners, chief examiners or moderators in any public exam under the board during this period.

On Saturday, Prof SM Kamal Uddin Haidar, exam controller of the Dhaka board and convenor of the Inter-Education Board Examination Controller Committee, said the teachers’ failures were confirmed during re-scrutiny of scripts.

“We found proof of negligence in evaluating SSC scripts. Hence, they were blacklisted,” he said.

On Aug 20, the board issued letters instructing the relevant heads of institutions to remove the 71 teachers from the EFT system and inform the board.

The blacklisted teachers include subject specialists in Bangla, English, higher mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, Islamic studies, business entrepreneurship, accounting and Bangladesh and Global Studies from districts such as Narayanganj, Rajbari, Faridpur, Munshiganj, Madaripur, Kishoreganj, Tangail, Gopalganj, and Manikganj.

The move follows the Aug 10 publication of SSC re-scrutiny results, which revealed major errors. Three students who had initially failed secured a GPA-5 after review.

Overall, 293 students who had failed passed upon re-scrutiny, while 286 obtained GPA-5.
