The secondary and higher education authorities have issued the admission policy for Class XI for students who passed the SSC and equivalent examinations.
Applications for college admission will begin on Jul 30, with the process running from Sept 7 to 14. Classes are scheduled to begin on Sept 15.
As usual, students will have to apply for admission online based on their results. Applications will be accepted in three stages.
The admission policy for Class XI, released on Thursday, mentions that first-stage applications can be submitted from Jul 30 to Aug 11.
These applications will be verified, selected, and finalised on Aug 12. Applications from students whose results have changed following the re-examination will be accepted on Aug 13 and 14.
Applicants will have the opportunity to change their preference on Aug 15.
The results of the students selected in the first phase will be published on Aug 20 at 8pm.
After the results are published, students selected in the first phase must confirm their preferences by 8pm on Aug 22.
If they fail to do so, both the selection and the application will be cancelled, and a new application fee will be required to reapply.
The second round of applications will be accepted from Aug 23 to 25, and the third round from Aug 31 to Sept 1.
The results of the second phase applications and the first migration will be published on Aug 28 at 8pm. The second stage selection must be confirmed on Aug 29 and 30.
The results of the third phase applications and the second round of migration will be published on Sept 3 at 8pm. Selected students must confirm their admission by Sept 4, and the final migration results will be released on Sept 5.
ONLINE APPLICATION PROCESS
Students can apply for admission to the 11th grade online through this website, www.xiclassadmission.gov.bd. For this, they must submit an application fee of Tk 220.
QUOTA
For admission, 93 percent of the seats in the concerned college or madrasah will be open to all, and will be selected on the basis of merit positions.
A total of 2 percent of seats, including 1 percent for the children of employees of the education ministry and 1 percent for the children of employees working in subordinate departments/organisations, will be reserved for admission to educational institutions in metropolitan, divisional, and district headquarters, subject to minimum qualifications.
If the number of applicants exceeds the number of available seats, admission will be granted on the basis of merit.
The concerned officer or employee must submit a certificate from the head of their department along with the application.
A total of 5 percent of seats will be reserved for the admission of children of freedom fighters. To claim these seats, a verified photocopy of the relevant certificate or gazette must be attached to the application form, and the original paper must be shown at the time of admission.
The freedom fighter certificate issued by the liberation war affairs ministry of the concerned person must be verified to ensure admission.
If there are not enough children of freedom fighters to fill up the quota, those seats will be filled from the merit list. Under no circumstances can seats be left vacant.
GROUP SELECTION
Students of the science stream can apply for admission in any group from science, humanities, or business.
Students of the humanities and business stream can apply to either of the two groups from humanities and business.
The same rule will be applicable for students who have passed from the Madrasah Education Board.
Students who have passed from any group can apply to any one of the domestic science and music groups.
DETERMINATION OF MERIT ORDER
For those with equal Grade Point Average (GPA), the merit order will be determined based on the total marks obtained.
For Madrasah Education Board, Technical Education Board, and Bangladesh Open University, the GPA and marks obtained will be calculated equivalently.
GPA and marks obtained in different years will also be calculated on an equivalent basis.
For admission to the science group, the marks obtained in the subjects General Mathematics and Higher Mathematics or Biology should be taken into account in determining the merit list of those who have equal total marks.
If the complexity in the selection of candidates is not resolved after that, the marks obtained in English, Physics, and Chemistry should be taken into account in stages.
For students in the humanities and business streams, marks obtained in English, Mathematics, and Bengali will be considered in stages to resolve tie cases involving equal total marks.
If a candidate's GPA from one group matches that required for admission to another group, the merit list will be prepared based on the total marks obtained.
If there is still a tie, the marks in English, Mathematics, and Bengali will be considered in stages to resolve the complexity.
For schools, colleges, and equivalent institutions, students who have passed from their own institutions will be given priority for admission in their respective streams, given they meet the qualifications determined by the institution.
Only the remaining vacant seats should be filled after admitting the institution’s own eligible students.
ADMISSION FEE
The maximum admission fee for Bengali and English versions in Monthly Pay-Order (MPO) affiliated colleges within Dhaka Metropolitan has been set at Tk 5,000.
The admission fee for Bengali and English version colleges in other metropolitan areas, except Dhaka, will be Tk 3,000.
The admission fee for both versions in district-level colleges has been set at Tk 2,000, while the admission fee for both versions in Upazila colleges has been set at Tk 1,500.
In non-MPO or partially MPO-affiliated institutions, the development fee, session charge, and admission fee are Tk 7,500 for the Bengali version and Tk 8,500 for the English version for colleges in the Dhaka Metropolitan area.
In non-MPO colleges in metropolitan areas except Dhaka, the admission fee for the Bengali version has been fixed at Tk 5,000 and for the English version at Tk 6,000.
Admission fee for district-level colleges has been fixed at Tk 3,000 for the Bengali version and Tk 4,000 for the English version.
Admission fee for Upazila colleges has been fixed at Tk 2,500 for the Bengali version and Tk 3,000 for the English version.
Government colleges will charge admission fees as per government guidelines. Colleges will have to take necessary steps to waive fees as far as possible for admission of poor, meritorious, and special needs students.
Education boards will charge an admission fee of Tk 335 from students during initial confirmation of admission.
Colleges or equivalent institutions with an establishment permission but a lack of the initial approval to conduct classes will not be allowed to admit students under any circumstances.
Similarly, no students may be admitted to any institution that has initial teaching approval or recognition for an unapproved campus or an unapproved subject.
