The interim government has approved five projects, including the ‘Modern waste and discarded oil removing management’ project at the Mongla Port in Khulna, at a cost of Tk 59.15 billion.

The government approved the projects at the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council or ECNEC meeting on Monday. The meeting was held at the NEC Conference Hall and led by Chief Advisor Muhammed Yunus.

At least Tk 47.87 billion of the total funds will be raised from foreign aid, Planning Advisor Wahiduddin Mahmud said at a press briefing following the meeting. He said the ECNEC will provide Tk 325 million, while the government will provide the remaining Tk 10.96 billion.

The approved projects include the ‘Eastern zone grid network expansion and capacity enhancement’ project under the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources; the ‘Capacity Building of Universities in Bangladesh to Promote Youth Entrepreneurship’ under the Ministry of Education; the Rural Development and Co-operative Division’s ‘Chattogram Sewerage System Development (catchment 2 and 4); and the ‘Emergency Multi-sector Rohingya Crisis Response Project,’ of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief.
