Saqib named Sportsman of the Year

Bangladesh cricket captain Saqib al-Hasan has been named as Sportsman of the Year 2009 by the Bangladesh Sports Writers Association.

Dhaka, Dec 20 (bdnews24.com) - Bangladesh cricket captain Saqib al-Hasan has been named as Sportsman of the Year 2009 by the Bangladesh Sports Writers Association.
For 2008, the award went to chess player Enamul Hossain Rajib.
The association on Sunday declared the names of All-Round Athlete, Player Of The Year, Emerging Player, Sports Organiser, Sponsor, Trainer, Organisation and Educational Institution for their contributions in the field of sports in 2008 and 2009.
The individuals and organisations receiving awards for 2009 are Kazi Mohammad Salahuddin (organiser), Rani Hamid (honour for life), Dhaka Bank Limited (sponsor), emerging sportsman - Imdadul Haque Milon (archery), Maruful Haque (coach), Viquarun Nisa Noon School and College (best educational institution), Bangladesh Air Force (most active organisation), best sportsman of the year (SA Mohsin Trophy) Saqib al-Hasan.
In 2008, the awards went to Wali Faisal (football), Tamim Iqbal (cricket), Mamunur Rahman Chyan (hockey), Mahbub Anam (organiser), Bashir Ahmed (honour for life), Citycell (sponsor), Bangladesh Ansar (active organisation), best sportsman of the year (SA Mohsin Trophy) - Enamul Hossain Rajib (chess).
