The Global Super League (GSL) defending champions Rangpur Riders have overcome a late scare to record another narrow 8-run victory against Dubai Capital's, this time to secure a place in the final.
Needing 28 runs with two wickets in hand in the last two overs, Qais Ahmad took advantage of a midfield and cut the equation to 9 off 8 with two sixes and a four.
Rangpur coasted to the win with four balls to spare, eliminating Dubai after a third consecutive defeat in the process.
Earlier, Rangpur posted 158 for 5 as Soumya (36 off 28), riding on knocks from Iftikhar Ahmed (41*), and Nurul Hasan (34*). The latter pair built a crucial partnership of 54-run for the sixth wicket.
Chasing 159 on a sluggish pitch, Dubai were in early trouble losing Kyle Mayers and Gulbadin Naib inside two overs.
Dubai kept losing wickets regularly, as Shakib Al Hasan also failed to anchor their innings, out to Saif Hassan for only 3.
The victory for the BPL side means they will be defending their GSL title against Guyana Amazon Warriors in the final.
