Sylhet Titans pulled off a dramatic one-wicket victory over Noakhali Express in a Bangladesh Premier League contest that swung repeatedly, keeping fans on the edge of their seats until the very last ball.

Chasing 144 on their home turf, Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s side reached the target with a leg-bye off the final delivery on Saturday in a match punctuated by moments of individual brilliance.

Mehedi Hasan Rana produced a remarkable hat-trick, becoming Bangladesh’s eighth T20 bowler and the ninth in BPL history to achieve the feat, finishing with figures of 4-34. Yet even his heroics could not secure a win for Noakhali.

Khaled Ahmed’s disciplined 4-23 kept Sylhet in touch, while Parvez Hossain Emon (60) initially guided his team along a seemingly straightforward path.

At one stage, Sylhet required 27 runs from 27 balls with seven wickets in hand. The momentum swung when Parvez was bowled, followed by Afif Hossain’s dismissal (2) in the next over by Rejaur Rahman Raja (1-24).

Rana then produced his hat-trick, sending Miraz (33), Nasum Ahmed (0), and Khaled (0) back to the pavilion in successive deliveries.

Hasan Mahmud’s tight penultimate over allowed just six runs from Mohammed Amir (1) and Ethan Brooks (16), setting up a nail-biting final over with Sylhet 13 runs adrift.

Sabbir Hossain started cautiously, but a no-ball enabled Brooks to clear the ropes on a free hit. Drama peaked as Brooks ran himself out off Jaker Ali’s direct throw. A wide followed, and Salman Irshad scampered the final run off his pads for the win.

Noakhali’s innings had begun in turmoil, losing three wickets for just nine runs. Captain Shykat Ali stabilised with 24 runs, while Mahidul Islam and Jaker added 66 runs. Mahidul’s 61* included 3 sixes and a four, but Sylhet’s resilient chase ultimately prevailed, anchored by Parvez 60 and Miraz 33.

Rana’s left-arm pace left an indelible mark, yet the day belonged to Sylhet Titans.

Brief Scorecard:

Noakhali Express: 143/7 in 20 overs; Mahidul 61*, Zaker 29; Khaled 4/23

Sylhet Titans: 144/9 in 20 overs; Parvez 60, Mehedi 33; Rana 4/34

Result: Sylhet Titans won by 1 wicket

Man of the Match: Syed Khaled Ahmed
