Khaled Mahmud Sujon has resigned his position as a director of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, or BCB.
The former Bangladesh captain tendered his resignation on Wednesday after serving in this role for 11 years.
His resignation comes amid a series of changes in the BCB following the fall of the Awami League government.
Shujon was not immediately available for comments about the reason behind his resignation.
However, according to sources, he made the decision after thinking about his future. The 53-year-old could apprehend that he would not be a part of BCB in the near future or be given the responsibility of any committee.
He became the director of BCB after winning the first election in 2013. He was up against another former captain of Bangladesh cricket team, Gazi Ashraf Hossain, in the election.
After being away from the BCB for a long time, Gazi Ashraf returned as the chief selector of the organisation last February.
Khaled Mahmud was the head of BCB's game development in his latest stint. He was also the vice-president of cricket-related operations.
Throughout his career, the former all-rounder has served as the national team's acting coach and manager on several occasions.
He has also served as the 'Team Director' of the national team in various series and tours since 2021. He last served as the team director during the ODI World Cup.
His role as head of the game development department in winning the 2020 U-19 World Cup is considered to be the biggest achievement of Bangladesh's cricket so far.
This year, the Bangladesh U-19 team won the Youth Asia Cup for the first time under his tutelage.
However, he has faced significant criticism for a conflict of interest, as he juggles coaching roles in the BPL and Dhaka's club cricket, along with several other responsibilities, all while serving as a director of the BCB.
Earlier, Nazmul Hasan resigned from the post of president, and former captain Faruque Ahmed was appointed as the new president of the BCB.
Jalal Yunus, one of the two directors nominated by the National Sports Council, also resigned last month. Ahmed Sajjadul Alam was also removed from his post by the Sports Council.
Nazmul Abedin has been made the new director of BCB.
On Aug 30, Shafiul Alam Chowdhury Nadel, the head of the women's cricket wing, resigned from his post. Later, former captain Naimur Rahman stepped down from the post of director on Sept 4.
