The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) ad-hoc committee has decided that board President Tamim Iqbal will represent the country in International Cricket Council (ICC) and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meetings.

Following a consultation with the ICC, the board has also included the chief executive officer as a representative by virtue of his position.

The ad-hoc committee, headed by Tamim, held its first meeting in Dhaka on Tuesday to finalise several key administrative matters.

During the session, the board appointed Tanjil Chowdhury as the official spokesperson to handle all media communications, ensuring members do not speak to the press individually.

Tanjil, who previously served as a director under Nazmul Hassan Papon, confirmed that the meeting primarily focused on maintaining operational continuity.

“[Tuesday’s] session served as an introductory meeting,” Tanjil said. “We had to make certain decisions to ensure our routine activities continue without interruption.”

He explained that bank signatories are divided into two groups: one under management, which includes the CEO and head of finance, and another under the board or ad‑hoc committee.

The committee decided that the president of the ad‑hoc committee and the finance committee head will serve as signatories from the committee side.

On ICC and ACC representation, Tanjil noted that tradition and protocol dictate the president’s attendance at global summits.

He confirmed Tamim’s nomination and added that, given the committee’s ad-hoc status, the ICC recommended the CEO’s involvement as an ex-officio member.

This arrangement also clarifies that the ICC has no objection to the committee’s temporary authority.

The change comes as an international series is set to begin in Bangladesh, with New Zealand scheduled to arrive on Monday.

The committee has already reviewed preparations for the series.

“The New Zealand tour requires specific preparations, and we have received an update on all necessary arrangements. Details will be discussed in the next meeting,” Tanjil said.

Matters relating to the board’s legal council will be discussed in detail at the next session, scheduled for Wednesday at 6pm.
