Dhaka University is restoring the original name of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall at its main gate.
The sign reading “Shaheed Osman Hadi Hall” will be removed from the gate.
Asked about the move, DU Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Professor Mohammed Almujaddade Alfasane told bdnews24.com: “The previous Senate decided to retain all the old names as they were. That decision is now being implemented.”
In December 2025, after Inqilab Moncho spokesperson Hadi was shot, the old sign at the hall’s gate was erased and replaced with one honouring him.
Later, the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) demanded that the hall be renamed after Hadi.
