Chittagong, Jan 20 (bdnews24.com) – Chittagong University vice chancellor Prof M Badiul Alam appointed a new proctor on Tuesday, in the wake of campus troubles including a two-day siege by Chhatra League activists demanding the VC's resignation.
Associate professor Anwarul Islam of the department of history was made proctor. Two new assistant proctors,e assistant professors Nurul Islam and M Rashed-un Nabi, were also appointed.
After taking over the new assignment, proctor Anwarul Islam told bdnews24.com, "The VC appointed us on Tuesday afternoon."
"We'll do our best to help improve the situation in the university," he said.
Earlier four CU assistant proctors resigned their positions on Tuesday as pro-Awami League Chhatra League students continued to campaign for resignation of the VC.
Alam told bdnews24.com that he had accepted resignations of three. They were Nurul Islam, HS Faruque Alam and Anwar Hossain.
But he did not accept the resignation letter of assistant proctor Mohammad Manzur Morshed, who was working as coordinator in absence of the proctor.
Former proctor Prof Jasim Uddin and assistant proctor Mahbubul Haque resigned last month.
