Dhaka University authorities have announced stringent traffic control on campus after 7pm on Friday, Feb 20, in observance of Language Martyrs’ Day and International Mother Language Day.
The university’s Public Relations Office confirmed the matter on Thursday.
“All preparations have been completed to observe Language Martyrs’ Day and International Mother Language Day.
“Residents of campus residential areas are urged to return home by 7pm. In emergencies, security passes and identity cards should be used.”
The administration has also arranged a series of commemorative programmes.
The national flag will fly at half-mast, and black flags will be hoisted at the vice-chancellor’s residence and key university buildings.
Special prayers will be offered after Asr at Masjidul Jamia, all hall mosques, residential area mosques, and other places of worship, seeking eternal peace for the language martyrs.
On Saturday, Feb 21, a silent procession and Prabhat Pheri will start at 6:30am from Smriti Chirantan Square in front of the VC’s residence.
The procession will pass Udayan School and proceed to the Central Shaheed Minar, where wreaths will be laid in tribute to the martyrs.
