The education ministry has instructed senior professors to take on urgent administrative and financial responsibilities in the absence of vice-chancellors, pro-vice-chancellors, and treasurers at public universities.
A letter from the ministry’s Secondary and Higher Education Division, issued on Thursday, outlined this temporary arrangement.
It noted that while some officials have resigned, others remain absent without formally stepping down.
The ministry said senior professors will handle these responsibilities in consultation with the university’s dean council and departmental chairs until new appointments are made.
Following the fall of the Awami League government on Aug 5, officials appointed during Sheikh Hasina’s tenure have been resigning from their posts.
The ongoing vacancies have led to operational disruptions across several public universities.
