The admission test for Dhaka University’s science unit (Ka unit) and recruitment tests for the posts of assistant director and assistant secretary at the University Grants Commission (UGC) have been suspended.
A total of 7,351 candidates were scheduled to take part in the UGC recruitment examination for 15 posts at the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology-BUET campus on Friday from 3:30pm to 4:30pm.
The admission test for the Dhaka University science unit was scheduled on Saturday.
A press statement sent by Shamsul Arefin, director of the UGC's Public Relations and Publications Department, on Friday morning announced the postponement of the exam due to “unavoidable circumstances”.
The commission said the new test schedule will be announced later.
Md Imran Hossain, senior assistant director of the UGC's Public Relations and Publications Department, confirmed the postponement, telling bdnews24.com: "A total of 7,351 job seekers were supposed to take part in the exam for 15 positions on the BUET campus in the afternoon."
Meanwhile, Dhaka University authorities said in a press statement on Friday, that it would observe a day of mourning on Saturday as part of the state mourning period for the death of Sharif Osman Hadi, an Inqilab Moncho leader and alumnus.
“As a tribute to brave July warrior Sharif Osman Hadi and all the July fighters and martyrs who took part in the July Mass Uprising, the admission test for the first year undergraduate programme of the science unit for the 2025-2026 academic year, scheduled to be held on Dec 20 (Saturday), has been postponed."
The statement says that the schedule for the postponed admission test will be announced soon.
"The admission test for the Ka Unit was to be held from 11am to 12:30pm on Saturday," Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, director of the university's public relations department, told bdnews24.com.
