Md Wasim Jabber has joined Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) as its treasurer.
The appointment took effect on Wednesday.
Jabber succeeds Khandker Md Iftekhar Haider in the post.
“Jabber served in the Bangladesh Civil Service for more than 32 years, holding senior positions in public administration, financial management, procurement, and institutional governance,” IUB said in a press release.
“His expertise spans contract management, procurement strategy, financial oversight, compliance auditing, and institutional leadership.”
Most recently, Jabber served as deputy team leader of the Digitizing Implementation Monitoring and Public Procurement Project – Capacity Development and Professionalization (DIMAPPP-CDP) at the International Training Centre of the International Labour Organization (ILO-ITCILO) in Turin, Italy, from 2019 to 2022.
Prior to that, he served as director general (additional secretary) of the Bangladesh Petroleum Institute (BPI) under the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. His earlier roles include director of administration and finance at the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB), director (training and education) of Bangladesh Institute of Administration and Management (BIAM); and chief revenue officer (CRO) at the Chattogram City Corporation.
Jabber completed his Master's in Procurement and Supply Management (MPSM) from BRAC University; an Executive Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Human Resource Management from the University of Science and Technology (USTC), Chittagong; and Mcom and Bcom (Honours) in Marketing from the University of Dhaka. He also holds a diploma, advanced diploma, and professional diploma in procurement and supply from the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS), UK.
He has served as an adjunct faculty at BRAC University; and national trainer on Public Procurement under the Bangladesh Public Procurement Authority (BPPA).
