American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) has participated in the QS Africa Forum 2026 to strengthen Bangladesh’s presence in the global higher education arena.
The forum was held at the Sheraton Addis Hotel in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on Jul 9 and Jul 10, bringing together university vice-chancellors, ministers, policymakers, academics and higher education representatives from across the world, the university said in a statement.
Held under the theme “Skills, Systems and Sustainability”, the forum featured discussions on the future of higher education, skilled workforce development, talent retention, international student and faculty exchange, artificial intelligence, and sustainable education systems.
As a sponsor and participant, AIUB showcased the capabilities, research potential and international collaborations of Bangladesh’s private higher education sector while expanding its engagement with the global academic community.
The university was represented by Board of Trustees Founding Member Ishtiaq Abedin, Faculty of Science and Technology Associate Dean Prof Khandaker Tabin Hasan, and Chief Public Relations Officer Abu Mia Akand Tuhin.
During the event, AIUB signed several memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with international universities to promote joint research, student exchange, and faculty exchange programmes.
The agreements were signed on behalf of the university by Trustee Member Abedin and Prof Khandaker Tabin Hasan.
On the sidelines of the forum, Abedin discussed a proposal with senior QS officials to jointly organise the QS Bangladesh Forum with the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Association of Private Universities of Bangladesh (APUB).
The university says the proposed forum aims to support the internationalisation of higher education in Bangladesh by improving universities’ global rankings, increasing international recognition and strengthening links with world-class teaching and research.
According to AIUB, its participation in the QS Africa Forum 2026 marks a step towards strengthening the global presence of Bangladesh's higher education sector and expanding opportunities for international collaboration.
