Umama Fatema, a front-line leader in the July Uprising, has been nominated for the vice-president position of the Independent Students Unity panel for the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) election.

Al Sadi Bhuiyan, the former president of the Dhaka University Journalists’ Association, will run for the general secretary post.

In addition, sociology student Zahed Hossain from the university’s 2018-2019 academic year is a candidate for the assistant general secretary position.

The group’s spokesman Rafiz Khan announced the panel at the altar of Aparajeyo Bangla on Wednesday.

After the panel was announced, Umama said: "Bangladesh still has a long way to go. We have not yet achieved the Bangladesh we aspire to. We will move towards that goal through the DUCSU election."
