Dhaka, Feb 9 (BDNEWS) - GrameenPhone Ltd has selected MapInfo Corporation to implement its location intelligence solution to monitor and optimise the performance of its GSM radio network across the country.
MapInfo, the New York-based leading global provider of location intelligence solutions, announced this Thursday.
Inaugurated in March 1997, GrameenPhone is the largest telecommunications service provider in Bangladesh, with a subscriber base of more than 6 million.
GrameenPhone continually strives toward providing better network coverage and quality for its customer base. GrameenPhone increased its network coverage from 55 per cent to more than 95 per cent of the population within last year.
As part of this initiative, the Radio Planning Department at GrameenPhone needed a spatial solution to assist them in monitoring and managing the mobile network quality and coverage across the country.
"We needed a proven and powerful, yet easy to use and deploy mapping solution to share network data with each other," explained Saeed Yousefi, GrameenPhone's Head of Radio Planning in the Technical Division.
"In addition to advanced features and functionalities for network data visualisation, MapInfo shall be used as an aid to the design process in order to provide a premium customer experience," added Yousefi.
