The founder of Joules Power Ltd and Desh Energy Ltd passes away following heart attack

Nuher Latif Khan, a trailblazing entrepreneur in the renewable energy sector, has passed away at the age of 42.
He died early Tuesday morning at a hospital in Dubai after suffering a heart attack.
Latif Khan, who was the managing director of Joules Power Ltd, gained nationwide recognition for his pioneering work in floating solar power projects in Bangladesh.
He was also the MD of Technaf Solartech Energy Ltd.
A representative from Joules Power Ltd confirmed that arrangements are being made to bring his body to Dhaka by Friday.
He will be laid to rest at the Banani Army Graveyard.
Latif Khan's company, Joules Power, established several solar power projects in different regions of Bangladesh.
He garnered significant attention for his floating solar power project in Chapainawabganj.
Latif Khan was the founder and managing director of Desh Energy Ltd.
He stepped down from the company in 2013 and later founded Joules Power Ltd under his dynamic leadership.
He was instrumental in building Bangladesh’s first solar power plant at Teknaf, with a capacity of 20MW.
This was followed by another solar power plant of the same capacity in Mymensingh’s Muktagacha.
Under his leadership, Technaf Solartech Energy became the first Independent Power Producer, or IPP, in Bangladesh to commence commercial production in the solar energy sector.
The company built the country’s first large-scale solar power plant in Teknaf on nearly 47 hectares of land.
Latif Khan’s leadership also saw Desh Energy successfully build a 110 MW power project based on liquid fuel and gas.
His company, Joules Power, won the prestigious Asian Power Award in 2018.
The Bangladesh Independent Power Producers' Association, or BIPPA, has expressed their condolences and sympathy following his untimely passing.
