BRAC Bank has appointed ASM Wasi Noman as its additional managing director and chief information officer (CIO).
In the newly created role, Noman will lead the bank’s technology strategy and digital innovation initiatives as part of efforts to accelerate its digital transformation, the bank said in a statement.
As a member of the bank’s management committee, he will oversee the technology and digital banking functions, aligning digital initiatives with BRAC Bank’s long-term strategy.
Noman has more than 25 years of experience across banking, telecommunications, IT services, automation and business process outsourcing.
Before joining BRAC Bank, he served as deputy managing director and chief information officer at MetLife Bangladesh.
Earlier in his career, he held senior leadership roles at organisations including Accenture, Grameenphone, GPIT, Standard Bank, Kernel Systems and BEXIMCO Computers.
He also served as chief technology officer of BRAC Bank from 2019 to 2021.
Commenting on the appointment, BRAC Bank Managing Director and CEO Tareq Refat Ullah Khan said the creation of the CIO position reflects the bank’s focus on technology-driven growth.
“Wasi Noman’s extensive global and cross-industry experience will play an important role in advancing our digital transformation,” he said.
Noman holds an MBA from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) at the University of Dhaka and a bachelor’s degree in computer science and engineering from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET).
He has also completed an Executive MBA for Technical Professionals from Falconbury Institute in London.
