The government is withdrawing the fuel rationing system for petrol, octane, and diesel to ensure smooth travel during the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays.
Energy ministry officials said filling stations across the country will resume normal supply and sales from Sunday.
A media briefing is scheduled for 10:30am on Sunday to officially announce the move.
Energy Division Joint Secretary Monir Hossain Chowdhury confirmed the decision to bdnews24.com.
Earlier on Saturday, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Shaikh Rabiul Alam hinted at the decision during a visit to bus terminals.
"The pressure of Eid travellers will increase from tomorrow. Instructions have been given to ensure adequate fuel supply for public transport," the minister said during a visit to bus terminals.
The government initially imposed fuel caps on Mar 6, days after panic buying drained supplies at filling stations amid fears of a fuel shortage triggered by the Middle East escalation.
Under the previous restrictions, motorcycles were limited to five litres per day, while SUVs and microbuses were capped at 20-25 litres. Long-distance buses and trucks were allowed between 200 and 220 litres.
Data from the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) suggests a stable inventory.
Currently, the country holds a reserve of approximately 200,000 tonnes of diesel, with an additional 60,000 tonnes for emergencies. The daily demand for diesel stands at about 12,000 tonnes.
Diesel accounts for 65 percent of all fuel consumption.
Stockpiles of petrol and octane are at 16,000 tonnes each. While domestic production accounts for 600-700 tonnes daily, the total demand is roughly 1,100-1,200 tonnes.
Energy Division officials noted that 18 fuel tankers are scheduled to arrive in March.
Six oil tankers have already docked by Mar 14, with another six expected to reach by Mar 27.
