Exports fall by 1 percent year on year to $3.91 billion after two-digit growth in the first three months

After enjoying around two-digit growths over the past three months, Bangladesh’s exports have fallen by 1 percent year-on-year to $3.91 billion in April.
The earnings missed the target by 16.8 percent, according to the latest data released by the Export Promotion Bureau on Thursday.
With last months’ earnings, Bangladesh’s exports in the first 10 months of the 2023-24 fiscal year grew by 3.93 percent to around $47.5 billion, falling short of the target by 6,87 percent.
Readymade garments sector, which contributes more than 80 percent to the total exports, posted an around 5 percent year-on-year growth to around $40.5 billion.
Bangladesh has targeted export earnings of $62 billion in 2023-24 fiscal year.
