Businesses and shoppers will get three more days at the Dhaka International Trade Fair 2019 as the authorities have extended the event to Feb 4 on request from traders.
Abdur Rauf, the member secretary of the fair’s organising committee, confirmed the decision to bdnews24.com on Tuesday.
According to another decision by the Election Commission, the fair will remain closed on Friday, as well as on the voting day of the city polls on Saturday.
Dhaka residents will head to polling centres to choose mayors and councillors for two city corporations on Saturday, a public holiday for the election.
The EC sent a letter to the commerce ministry to relay its decision to the organisers of the fair, a key annual event for businesses and shoppers.
