Titumir College students attack agitating private varsity students at Dhaka’s Banani

The attack was reported around 11:30am on Monday at the Kakali intersection on the Airport Road.
 
Students gathered at the intersection around 10:30am to demonstrate against the VAT imposed on their tuition fees. They blocked the Airport Road, which disrupted traffic.
 
Three buses coming from Uttara, carrying Titumir College students, got stuck in the blockade.
 
A group of students, armed with sticks, came down and attacked the demonstrators, a bdnews24.com correspondent reported from the spot.
 

The attack forced protestors to disperse and the traffic started to move. But sometime later, the agitating students again occupied the intersection. The bdnews24.com correspondent on the spot said that police was found standing at a distance during the whole time. A student, who was on the bus from which the attackers came down, told bdnews24.com that they were returning from a programme at the Radisson Blu Water Garden Hotel. The agitating students first attacked the bus and the Titumir College students retaliated, he claimed.
