PM Tarique meets Türkiye’s Erdoğan, both sides determined to strengthen ties

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has met Türkiye President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.

The two leaders expressed their firm determination to further strengthen the friendly relations between Bangladesh and Türkiye and open up new areas of future cooperation based on mutual interests and common priorities at the meeting.

The meeting was held at the Turkish House at the United Nations Plaza in New York on Tuesday afternoon local time, according to the Prime Minister's Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman.

He said, "The meeting also discussed the possibilities of expanding the existing cooperation between the two countries in different fields, including the economy, trade and investment."

The meeting emphasised the need to continue close cooperation and coordination between the two countries on a number of important issues in the regional and international arenas and matters of mutual interest, Ruman said.

State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir and Bangladesh’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Irene Khan attended the meeting.
