Dhaka, Jan 7 (bdnews24.com) – Former finance advisor to the caretaker government Kafiluddin Mahmud has passed away; he was 84.
Mahmud died of heart failure around 3 pm on Friday in the city's Square Hospital, his family members have said.
Mahmud had served as the finance advisor during Shahabuddin Ahmad's caretaker government.
His body has been taken to his Dhanmondi residence from the hospital.
The first Namaz-e-Janaza of Mahmud will be held in Dhanmondi's Takwa Mosque after the Esha prayer.
He will be buried in his family graveyard in Dakshin Dharmapur village of Fulgazi Upazila, Feni.
Mahmud has left a son and two daughters.
Mahmud had also served as finance secretary, NBR chairman and in many other important government posts. He began his career as an officer of Pakistan civil service.
Mahmud's father-in-law used to be the governor of Pakistan state bank.
