The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast scattered rain in parts of the country on Eid day, with the festival expected to fall on Friday or Saturday depending on the sighting of the moon.

Meteorologist Shahnaz Sultana said on Wednesday that rain was likely in parts of the country from Wednesday through Sunday.

“Accordingly, on Eid day too, there is a possibility of scattered rain, rain with gusty winds, thunderstorms or even hail in different areas."

She added that nor’wester conditions had developed under the influence of winds blowing in from the north and northwest, raising the likelihood of rain across the country over the next few days.

According to the Met Office, on Friday, temporary gusty or squally winds, lightning and rain or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions, and at one or two places in the Khulna and Barishal divisions.

There is also a chance of scattered hail in some places.

Day and night temperatures across the country may fall slightly on Friday.

On Saturday, temporary gusty or squally winds, lightning and rain or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions.

Scattered hail is also possible in some places, while daytime temperatures may drop slightly and night temperatures may remain almost unchanged.

The BMD has also forecast scattered rain, with gusty winds, thunderstorms or hail affecting parts of the country on Wednesday and Thursday.

On Wednesday, such conditions may occur at a few places in Sylhet Division and at one or two places in the Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions.

On Thursday, similar weather is likely at a few places in the Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions, and at one or two places in the Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna and Barishal divisions.

The Met Office has also forecast scattered rain on Sunday.

On that day, temporary gusty or squally winds, lightning and rain or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions, and at one or two places in the Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions.

Day and night temperatures may rise slightly on Sunday.
