An elderly man has hurled a shoe at Anti-Corruption Commission Chairman Mohammad Abdul Momen during a public hearing in Bogura.
The incident took place around 1pm on Sunday at the Titu Auditorium in Bogura.
The shoe landed under the stage where Momen was seated, throwing the ACC chief off his chair.
The man, identified as 65-year-old pisciculturist Sakhawat Hossain Mondol, said he had been deceived in an incident and was repeatedly denied any remedies on multiple occasions.
“I lodged complaints with every office but received no justice. The Human Rights Commission ruled in my favour twice, but nothing happened. At this ACC event, they are only taking complaints from the Sadar Police Station, not mine. That is why I threw the shoe,” he said.
“I was prepared to go to jail when I came here. I knew that throwing a shoe would send me there,” he added.
Sakhawat was initially escorted out of the venue but was later brought back in and allowed to sit following the chairman’s instructions.
