The prime minister gave the order under her executive powers, said state minister of public administration Ismat Ara Sadique.
“Government employees will have to make up for the day on Sep 24,” she told bdnews24.com.
The Eid-ul-Azha will be held on Sep 13 this year and the three-day official holiday starts from Sep 12.
With Sep 11, which falls on the week’s first working day Sunday, declared as public holiday, government officials will be able to go on vacation from Sep 9 (Friday).
The announcement means that offices will remain closed from Sep 9 to 14.
Bangladesh enjoyed an extended nine-day Eid-ul-Fitr vacation this year as the prime minister had then also announced the day ahead of the official vacation as a public holiday.
