But Shyama's family has rejected the report and been saying Tipu and his wife Dr Jesmin Ara Begum may have influenced this report.
Despite in-laws' claims Shyama took her own life, her father Nurul Islam had lodged a murder case against the former lawmaker's family on the night of Nov 13 after she was brought dead to the capital's Central Hospital.
Shyama's husband Humayun Sultan Shadab was remanded in that case and is currently in jail pending trial.
But Tipu and Jesmin, who were also named in the case, had secured bail from the High Court.
Police received the autopsy report on Sunday afternoon.
Dhanmondi Police Station OC Abu Bakar Siddique told bdnews24.com: "The autopsy report says Shamarukh committed suicide by hanging herself."
But her father Nurul Islam told bdnews24.com that they would move the court for another autopsy.
The retired PWD engineer has been saying that her daughter was murdered.
OC Siddique said they would investigate whether she was provoked to commit suicide.
Police official Shariful Islam, who is the case investigation officer, told bdnews24.com they were following different leads to determine the true reasons behind Shyama's death.
He said they were also trying to listen to the mobile phone conversations between Shyama and her father.
Nurul Islam earlier claimed that she had expressed fear that she would be killed while talking to him over phone.
