The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has deployed personnel at seven locations across Dhaka.
The paramilitary force said on Tuesday that members have been stationed at Dhanmondi, Shahbagh, Abrar Fahad Avenue, Banglamotor, Karwan Bazar, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar and Mohakhali, among other points in Dhaka.
The decision to deploy BGB across the country was taken on Monday ahead of the anniversary of the Awami League, whose activities are banned.
Troops were on the streets from Monday evening.
Concerns over possible unrest surrounding the anniversary have circulated in recent days, prompting a broader security response from the state.
On Monday, the government also deployed the Army in the Dhaka, Chattogram and Gazipur metropolitan areas, as well as in the Narayanganj, Gopalganj and Faridpur districts.
Magistracy powers were also granted to Army officers in those jurisdictions to support law and order enforcement.
