More than 300, 000 candidates are set to appear in the 49th Special BCS examination on Friday for 683 lecturer positions at government colleges.

The exam will be held from 10am to 12pm at 184 centres across Dhaka.

Each post has around 460 aspirants competing, according to the Public Service Commission (PSC).

The oral examinations for those who pass the written test are expected to begin from Oct 26, it added.

PSC spokesperson SM Matiur Rahman said, “All preparations for the exam have been completed. For this BCS for college teacher recruitment, 312,752 candidates applied.

As per the exam guidelines, entry gates will close at 9:30am. Candidates are prohibited from bringing books, watches of any kind, mobile phones, calculators, electronic devices, bank or credit card-like devices, jewellery, or bags into the centres.

Admit cards will be verified and candidates searched with metal detectors in the presence of executive magistrates and police officers.

Examinees must keep their ears uncovered. Those requiring hearing aids may enter with a medical certificate and permission from the commission.

Visually impaired candidates will be assisted by commission appointed scribes.

Extra time of 20 minutes for scribes, and 10 minutes for other disability candidates will be provided.

The PSC issued the teaching recruitment notice on Jul 21; applications were accepted from Jul 22 to Aug 22.
