4 workers killed in gas explosion at Akij Venture factory in Habiganj

The explosion occurs during gas line repairs around 9am on Tuesday in the Dubai Bazar area of Bahubal Upazila

Four workers have been killed in an explosion at an Akij Venture factory in Habiganj’s Bahubal Upazila during gas line repairs.

Another person was injured in the blast.

The incident occurred around 9am on Tuesday in the Dubai Bazar area, according to Zahirul Islam, assistant superintendent of police from the Bahubal Circle.

Three of the dead have been identified as Chandpur district residents Mizan Gazi, Mahfuz Mia, and Riaz Mia.

ASP Zahirul said that four workers for a contractor were working on the gas line at the factory when an explosion occurred.

Mizan and Mahfuz died on the spot from burns.

Riaz, an Akij Group employee, was rushed to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital alongside two others injured in the blast.

Riaz died on the way and another victim was declared dead by doctors at the hospital.
