Dhaka, June 25 (BDNEWS) – The 12th death anniversary of Jahanara Imam, known as Shaheed Janani (mother of martyrs), will be observed on Monday.
On this day in 1994, she died at a hospital in USA, after suffering from cancer for a long time.
Jahanara Imam had formed Ekatturer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee to spearhead a massive movement against the killers and collaborators of 1971.
The Nirmul Committee has chalked out elaborate programmes to mark the death anniversary of Shaheed Janani with due respect.
The Nirmul leaders and activists will place wreaths at her grave at Mirpur Martyrs-Intellectuals Graveyard at 8 am Monday.
In the afternoon, it will arrange a function at WVA Auditorium where Justice KM Sobhan will give "Jahanara Imam Memorial Speech" on "Trial of war criminals and Constitution of Bangladesh".
Prof Khan Sarwar Murshed and Shomoy Prokashon will be awarded "Jahanara Imam Memorial Padak 2006" in the function.
