Muhammad Yunus, chief advisor to the interim government, has urged everyone to break down barriers and move forward as a united nation.
He sent his Eid greetings to the people of Bangladesh after attending the main Eid-ul-Fitr congregation at the National Eidgah on Monday.
Yunus began his message with greetings to expatriate Bangladeshis.
He then extended Eid greetings to those who were ill or in hospital and could not attend the service.
“Eid is a day where we overcome the distance between us. It is a day of closeness, a day of love. May we celebrate that day today with deep love - that is our message… May we be able to convey it to everyone.”
"Today is a day to build an unbreakable unity. We want to forge a permanent unity. This is our wish at the Eid congregation," he said.
Religious Affairs Advisor AFM Khalid Hossain, Energy Advisor Fouzul Kabir Khan, Supreme Court justices, diplomats from different countries, the administrator of the Dhaka South City Corporation, politicians, intellectuals, government secretaries, and people of all classes and professions attended the service alongside Yunus.
