The man who died near Dhaka College during the clash between Bangladesh Chhatra League and student protesters demanding reforms to the quota system in government jobs has been identified as a student.
Police used technology to confirm his identity in the early hours of Wednesday, said Sub Inspector Mahabub Ali of New Market Police Station
His fingerprints were collected and police identified him as Sabuj Ali, 25.
Sabuj, the son of Badsha Mia, was a native of Nilphamari’s Sadar Upazila.
Meanwhile, State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak expressed his shock in a post on Facebook claiming Sabuj was an active member of the Chhatra League.

Sabuj, a Chhatra League activist was killed by thugs, the state minister wrote.
He was a student of the Statistics Department of the 2018-19 academic session and lived in the North Hall of Dhaka College.
A clash broke out on Tuesday afternoon at the Science Laboratory intersection between student protesters demanding quota reforms and Dhaka College Chhatra League members.
During the clash, an injured man was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
The identity of the 25-year-old man was still unknown until midnight. Later, police took his fingerprints and confirmed his identity.
