Senior BNP leader Mirza Abbas has returned home after undergoing treatment in Singapore and Malaysia for five and a half months.
He arrived at Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka around 9:15pm on Wednesday, where BNP leaders and activists welcomed him.
His wife Afroza Abbas also returned with him, BNP spokesperson Shairul Kabir Khan told bdnews24.com.
The prime minister’s political advisor returned with permission from the medical board overseeing his treatment. His family said his condition has improved, but he will need daily therapy and continued medical care.
He was admitted to Evercare Hospital on Mar 11 after suddenly losing consciousness at his Shahjahanpur residence. A team of neurologists performed brain surgery on him the following day.
On Mar 15, he was flown by air ambulance to Singapore General Hospital for advanced treatment. On doctors’ advice, he was transferred to Prince Court Hospital in Malaysia on Apr 14, where he continued treatment and physiotherapy.
